If those readers outside New England think I've been exaggerating the rain, areas down around the ME/NH/MA border have surpassed their monthly records for rainfall in May. We still have nearly half the month left...

I'll say. Newmarket, a couple of towns over from here, got 9 inches. The monthly average is around 3.

Meanwhile, the Salmon Falls River overflowed into the water treatment facility and now Somersworth's water is contaminated. I was amazed that the local grocery store still had gallons left after two days. Not much, but some.

I would never accuse you exaggerating the rain... but you guys are hogging it all!

Down here in the deserts of Pennsylvania, we've got burn bans in place all around, and still my neighbors are lighting bonfires to burn off all the trees they cut down on their formerly wooded lot... oy.

Global warming is about extremes of weather. Record highs, record lows, record rainfall or lack thereof, more records being set over shorter periods of time. We need people in office who don't have their heads in the sand about this, and can see evidence when it's in front of their eyes. But that's not going to happen as long as the Republicans believe they can create their own reality.
