Tried to fit my bike ride in between rainy spells today. Missed by about two miles and eight minutes. Got home moderately soaked, and the dear wife points out that she'd just checked weather.com and there was one, count-it-one, green blotch of rain showing on the weather radar for the entire State O' Maine. Anybody remember that Al Capp cartoon character with his own personal raincloud?

Yeah, good ol' Joe. I suspect that half the world, or at least half the internet, is too young to remember _L'il Abner_.

We saw that patch ... and we use wunderground.com's "show storms" to track directions of such things... it was not headed directly toward us, but after it went by the wind picked up and the temp and humidity started to drop -- thanks for soaking that up!

meanwhile we got woke up overnight and had to close windows and turn off computers and such with the 3:55 storm... and about 15 minutes after it stared we lost pwoer for an hour plus... glad it was this mornign and not tomorrow morning, when we'll be on the way to WorldCon.

Didn't get much sturm und drang out of the early-morning bit -- a few flashes and rumbles, but I think the heart of it passed north of us. No power outage. But then, we do live in the Big City, where the power company has to be on its best behaviour -- after all, if BHE lets our power go out, it hits their own headquarters as well.
