A Kansas church plans to send protesters to the Maine funeral of a soldier killed in Iraq. The Westboro Baptist Church isn't protesting the war, mind you. Instead, these people say that US soldiers deserve to die because they defend a country that tolerates homosexuality.

I think this meets the classic definition of "Sick Fuck."

This kind of twisted hate really ought to have people from both sides of the spectrum coming down to squash said protesters. I think your definition nails it.

Calling Westboro Baptist a "church" is technically true, but probably somewhat misleading. AFAICT, it primarily consists of Fred Phelps and his extended family; they make their living by suing cities and towns for not doing enough to protect their First Amendment rights to demonstrate at funerals.

They used to go after AIDS victims; once they started going after US Soldiers, a bunch of Harley riders started following them around and drowning out their noise by revving their bikes.

Sick but also desperate. I think they escalated to protesting at soldiers' funerals because it was the only way they could get the media to pay attention to them anymore.

When? Where? I think I know some bikers who would like to show up to protect the furneral procession by lining the sidewalks and not moving to give Phelps a place to stand.

Perhaps we could relocate the Westboro Baptist Church to the opposing country. Then they can feel free to live in a realm that doesn't tolerate homosexuality. And they'll be able to enjoy the death of courage a little more.

I think it's twisted that one man can make a living out of loving to hate. But that's just me.

Ah... Fred. Fred Fred Fred. Apparently we're not good enough to take on head to head anymore. (laugh) He's such a chickenshit.

See, ages ago he protested any and all gay events. Mainly funerals. And eventually because of him the local gay community groups, AIDS support groups and so on made LOTS of cash. HOW you ask?

Pledges. For every hour he protested you'd pledge a certain amount of cash. Used to be that communities he landed in made a lot of money. The first community to do this sent him a thank you card, thanking him for all his help in supporting the local groups. They asked if he'd consider coming again, and staying longer.

Between that and his aborted attempt to protest at the Canadian Parliament buildings (which he skipped out on after months of planning it online, and I imagine because they'd set up the above system in the advent of his arrival, as well as a several THOUSAND person rally to come and vigil around him, praying for his soul [gay group set this up]), he's not so much protested directly against gay events. Now he's got to go after some one less organized.

Uh. Wait. They aren't. Huh.

Boggles the mind, tho. Out of ALL the various things in the world, this man is STUCK on homosexuality. EVERYTHING and EVERYONE relates to it in his world. I seriously wonder sometimes about that. OCD, much? It has crossed my mind he's just pissed because he never made it as a clubkid, so his bitter old queeny ass is now in a twist and he's going to just show them, dontchaknow?
