Winter's icy grip

Air temperature 35 F, wind northwest 9 mph gusting to 18, cloudy. Slush overnight, not enough to bury the lawn. More of an icing on the cake of brown weeds and acorns. Supposed to get up into the 50s F this afternoon, with partly cloudy. Appointment this morning, maybe walk in the afternoon?

Had my annual "wellness" visit with Primary Care this morning. New doctor, as often happens. We were discussing the state of the world, and it turns out that he is Canadian, with brownish skin and a funny name. He's been advised to not travel to his home country, as he might not be let back across the border. . .
I repeat, licensed doctor, working in a major medical practice.
