Lion/lamb debate

Air temperature 10 F, wind west gusting to 18 mph, "feels like" -3 F. Yesterday's rain turned to snow at the end, leaving frozen layers on the road. Plow/sanding truck just passed in both directions out front, making little progress on the surface.

Homestead morning news

Have shaved the driveway, removing the snow down to a layer that froze to the asphalt when we changed over from rain to snow. Probably a total of about half an inch. And we have decided that our midnight skulker is most likely a fox, based on the track pattern. It takes a diagonal path across the front yard and around the downhill end of the house, on a regular basis. Or so the snow tells us.

Morning walk warning

Icy treacherous sidewalks on my route. Kept to the street, which has been salted, with a few passages of ducking into sidewalks where the streets are too busy for safety. Even there I found some patches of ice.
