Sunday indestructible aster report
Oct. 20th, 2024 02:09 pmEven some of the asters are done, but the large purple variety is hanging on even after hard freezes. Maples starting to drop leaves, oaks beginning to turn. Tamaracks going the shade that Aldo Leopold called "smoky gold."
Metal birds limited to a C-130 parked and an Army Guard Blackhawk hovering low over the Reserve training center on the far side of the runway. Saw it winch something up, don't know if it was a human or a dummy, but practicing rescue or extraction. It's rescue if there isn't any hostile fire . . .
Temperature warmed up a bit, 56 F when I got out on the bike and 66 F when I got back, so I seized the day for a ride. May have another chance before the arctic reclaims us. Did not die.
