Sunday goose report
Aug. 25th, 2024 11:45 amNo geese on my passage out, couple-dozen by the cemetery pond when I returned. Also, heard a mockingbird in that area, so they may be starting to stake out winter territory. Defend those berries!
No roadkill noted. Suspect that this represents a shortage of wildlife rather than improved survival skills.
One lupine blooming in a hayfield that hasn't been cut yet. The time is out of joint . . .
Got out on the bike, upriver to the university and back, last chance to cruise the campus before a plague of students descends to ravage the land. As it was, I had to dodge around some orientation things. Younger Son will be thrilled to hear that his former apartment still stands.
