Sunday UFO report
Aug. 11th, 2024 11:22 amCouple of bird sightings on the ride, first a crow-sized brown bird zipping across that could have been a Cooper's but I'm not sure, and then a brown sandpiper-type by a temporary pool, not excessively long legs or excessively long bill. Bicycle ornithology is as uncertain as bicycle botany, only more so. Definitive ID, a couple of ducks by the cemetery pond on my way out, dozens of geese on the other shore of that pond on my way back.
Roadkill limited to one painted turtle by the road through the bog. Why did the turtle cross the road? It didn't . . .
More asters blooming, and some kind of white arrowhead in open water in the bog, probably "common" because, well, that's the most common in our area.
Good bicycle morning, rode up river and then over to the road through the bog and thence home. Did not die.
