Air temperature 66 F, wind south about 6 mph, fog at the airport with visibility .21 miles. Cloudy here, at lower elevation. May try to get out for a bike ride before the heat slams down.

Catbirds have been plundering our honeysuckle bush, at least two adults. Some of the berries are going straight down the throat while others are carried off, probably to go down other throats. We have no way of knowing if these are *our* catbirds. There are several pairs in the area.

Lime trees humming and perfuming the neighborhood. Lot of bind-weed blooming along one stretch of my ride, relative of morning glories so it's attractive, but still considered a pest.

No roadkill to note, unless you count the section of road that was officially closed but I rode through anyway because bikes are small and I was ready to turn around and backtrack up hill if I had to.

No metal birds parked in the visitor's lot. Did hear a couple of heavy takeoffs since I got home, which may have been part of the home flock of tankers or hazardous cargo that had to park away from public areas.

Got out before the real heat clamped down, 71 F when I headed out and 79 when I got home. Did not die, but those hills are getting steeper and longer every year. Ride takes me over 500 miles for the year.
