Wednesday floral report
Jul. 3rd, 2024 10:47 amRoadsides mostly same-old, but the clovers are going to seed and the bush honeysuckle berries are turning red. Ours is not, but it lives in the shadow of our crab-apple and maple trees out back. Maybe a different variety of mullein starting to bloom, shorter and sparser blossoms.
Roadkill was a bad day for assorted squirrels, gray and red and chipmunk. Not roadkill included bullfrogs out in the bog and a mockingbird that needed to keep an eye on me while I reset the bike chain out at the cemetery. No goose flotillas at the cemetery pond yet.
Beat the heat, 68 F when I headed out and 81 F now, biked upriver and over to the road through the bog and back home. Did not die.
