Air temperature 53 F, light northwest breeze, fair sky. The usual percentage of our neighbors do not recognize that trash collection will be a day late, due to the Monday holiday. Will probably attempt a bike ride later.

Friday aircraft report

Got mocked by a mockingbird on a long downhill, odd territory for a mocker as it is out in the middle of hayfields and a condo development. Also, large shadow passed over the road in front of me with dangling legs showing. I couldn't take my eyes off business to check, but that had to have been a heron.

No new flowers. The bush honeysuckle is everywhere and so are the hawkweed and buttercups. The latter a yellow carpet in the horse-pasture out near my five-mile point, something that bothers me every year as the plant is poisonous to livestock.

Got out on the bike, more wind than I'd like but that's my common lament. Did not die.

With the flowers down, we have cut back parts of our forsythia to the point that they are no longer a hazard to the mowing crew at eye level. And as a bonus, removed a buckthorn that had grown up in the clump to a trunk two inches through. Buckthorn is a noxious weed.
