We are not frost free

Air temperature 35 F, wind southwest about 5 mph, sunny. Rebounding from an overnight low of 27 F. Date around here for planting frost-sensitive garden stuff is traditionally Memorial Day. In other words, a month from now. Foraging planned, plus a visit from the water-meter fairy. District needs to replace all its meters on a rotating schedule. Whee.

First violets seen

Met up with Ms. Sasha on my afternoon walk. Her house has a tangled "flower bed" in front of the closed-in porch, and while I was petting her squirmy self I noted a couple of purple spots in the tangle. Purple is only notable because a lot of what we get are white violets. Tulips only showing buds so far, except for some miniatures that looked like they could even be plastic.
