Air temperature 62 F, wind southwest about 7 mph, mostly cloudy. Roads wet from rain overnight and weather radar shows a band of green across town over the airport. Intend to get out on the bike after the world dries off.

Small white asters starting to bloom, joining the mid-sized pastel purple. Some of the earlier summer flowers have given up, but I saw chicory/cornflower and a couple of buttercups still at it. More and yet more loosestrife.

No roadkill to report. Couple of piles of porcupine quills that I have already mapped. Not-roadkill, a couple of ducks at the cemetery pond as I headed out. Still no monarchs seen.

Rode upriver to the dam overlook where I look for eagles, but found none. Did not like the clouds collecting so I headed home. Detour through the university and found a bunch of cars -- seems to be move-in day, at least for the freshmen. Managed to evade the traffic and escape. Did not die.
