Sunday avian report
Jul. 30th, 2023 01:30 pmGroup of geese by the cemetery pond, at least six. Still there when I came back through but in shadows, just lumps with one guardian head up. No exact count possible.
No roadkill identified.
Midsummer flowers, tansy and yarrow and vetch and thistles and roadside hop-clover and rabbits' foot clover and trefoil. Etc, etc, etc. Haven't identified any bull thistles or other late types. Cattails filling out their seed heads.
Got out on the bike, mid-60s F and more wind than I'd like. Wife points out that wind is an essential part of changing the air. Anyway, up to the university and back, Younger Son will be thrilled to hear that the residences the Big U said would be torn down over 20 years ago yet stand. Valuable lesson there, don't believe everything they tell you . . .
Did not die. Ride takes me over 500 miles for the year, which is at least 200 miles behind where I'd like to be.
