Friday floral report
Jun. 23rd, 2023 01:01 pmCrown vetch starting to bloom on the roadsides, bladder campion, more wild or feral roses. Couple of towns on my route have started to mow the right-of-way, which really cuts back on bicycle botany. They've even felled some of the blue flags. I *may* have seen a pink moccasin-flower back under the ferns. Or a piece of trash . . .
Roadkill limited to a couple of either chipmunk or red squirrel pancakes, plus another that could have been the above or a summer-phase weasel. Not-roadkill, hearing bullfrogs now from the wet areas. And I was thinking that I haven't seen any wild turkeys this year, living or dead. Don't know if that is avian flu, or coyotes.
Got out on the bike, upriver and back through the bog. Did not die. Due to weather and other things, I'm going to have to revise my target mileage for the year.
