Sunday floral report
Jun. 11th, 2023 11:43 amBlue flag iris blooming in the boggy areas, orange hawkweed here and there among the yellow, black locusts trying to suffocate anything that breathes, and both white and red clover heavy on the roadsides. I think I've missed both trilliums and moccasin-flowers -- there's a short window between the start of their blooming and the underbrush leafing out to the point where I can't see back into the woods. Flowers may be there, but I won't see them from a bike.
Only roadkill was a squashed chipmunk, a distant relative of our residents --about 3 miles distant. Mockingbird trilling away over by car dealership row.
Sunny, little wind, temperature in the 60s F, so I got a bike ride in past the weather. This is my first ride of June, which bodes ill for my 1000 mile target. Did not die.
