First daisies and buttercups and, I think, phlox -- the latter not close enough to the road for positive ID. Spirea and rowan blooming. Oak trees dropping their catkins.
One mockingbird heard, the police station claimant. Also a catbird or possibly two.
NASA markings on a C-130 over at the base, landing as I crossed beyond the runway and then taxiing out for takeoff as I reached my water stop around the other side -- must have been topping off fuel. Also an anonymous twin-engine passenger jet, no registration numbers or logo. Probably a patient for the aircraft rehab company.
Only roadkill one measly gray squirrel, in a shadow on the roadway so I almost hit it myself.
Got out on the bike, temperature in the 60s F and little wind. Still had a detour out at the airport. Did not die.
