Air temperature 43 F, light north wind, fair sky with high haze. Alberta continues to burn? Meanwhile, the city mowing crew is out in our park, beheading dandelions.

Grackles and other birds move in after the mower moves on, prospecting for the half-bugs and seeds left behind. I don't know if they key visually or by sound, but we've seen this in private lawns and parks alike, for years.

C-5 doing either "patterns" or "touch and go" out at the base/airport -- I wasn't in the right location at the right time to see if they were actually smoking rubber in the process. Also, C-17 parked. These reports are all birds located next to a public road, so anything hazardous or secret goes unseen.

First columbine blooming, more lupines across town, carpets of wild strawberries. Most of which won't set fruit, due to an endemic disease.

Rode across town, encountering construction and a detour, so my mileage and time do not compare with previous examples. Did not die.
