Air temperature 47 F, wind west about 8 mph, partly cloudy. No hummingbird sightings yet today, probably still in torpor. They are a bit late on the azaleas, dropping petals already, but the mighty Internet tells me that hummers like crab-apple flowers. Those we have in abundance.

The lunatics continue to be in charge of the asylum.

Feral lily of the valley blooming, although our home patch just shows buds. More bunchberry, wood anemone, and I'm pretty sure I saw a couple of rhodora blooms in the bog. One plant only, so further reports will be needed. Still Canada mayflower leaves but no flowers.

Four geese out at the cemetery pond. Elder son reports a pair of geese with at least one gosling in tow on his morning walk, which seems like it is rushing the season. Anyway, no roadkill to report, not even squirrels.

Got out on the bike before the wind picked up. Did not die.

We will probably be seeing more of these. If your battery has a 1/100,000 chance of exploding (random number, not a statistic), and there are millions of the bleeping things even in Maine, do the math . . .
