Saturday wildlife report
Apr. 22nd, 2023 03:43 pmTwo ducks in the cemetery pond, but since they were both drakes I suspect there were actually four and I just didn't spot the hens. No roadkill, unless I count a roadside patch of fur that was probably raccoon killed over the winter.
Poplars and gray birches drooping their catkins, good patch of coltsfoot up next to the golf course, forsythia showing that weird pattern of flowers up to the height of the winter snow and buds above that. Golf course was open and busy, and allowing carts so the ground must be drying out.
Temperature got above 60 F, not very windy, slipped a ride past the weather gods. Still using my old mountain bike with the knobby tires, due to residual winter grit on the roads. And potholes. Did not die.
