The joys of home ownership. Just spent an hour first opening and then cleaning out the "cleanout" at the base of our chimney. Which was leaking water after heavy rains, because of decades of soot and leaves covering any drainage. Note that this chimney is no longer required, as the gas boiler vents directly outside . . . .
