The wind and the rain

Air temperature 65 F, wind southeast gusting to 40 mph, light rain falling sideways. We'll keep an eye on the trash bin in case it decides to migrate. Weather supposed to keep up all day, with bouts of heavy rain to spice things up.

If you vote for people who don't believe in democracy, you can't expect to get another chance at voting. Some voters are okay with this.

Minor amusements

The city, in its infinite wisdom, has installed a permanent radar speed monitor down the street. Apparently rain and wind confuse it, flashing a warning to slow down even when there are no cars in range. I'm guessing wet leaves on the nearest tree.

Ash tree amusement

We have ash trees out front. Some of them are bare now, after a brief stint in yellow, while others are still green. Different cultivars planted by the City Forester over the years.

What percentage of the Camp Lejeune lawsuit settlement calls, ads, and emails are scams? Not talking about percentage fee lawyers, but out and out scams . . .

Gang of Four

We have a small group of white-throats that hangs out under the crab-apple tree on a regular basis. This storm hasn't caused any change in habits.
