Air temperature 45 F, wind south about 3 mph, sunny. Our brush with Fiona was limited to gusty winds peaking near 50 mph, giving us the usual free pruning of a few trees. The hurricane people are now showing "Ian" more westerly, into the Florida panhandle next week.

Trees out in the bog are starting to drop leaves. Bracken turning golden or brown, even the poison ivy has muted color this year. Some upland trees turning. Flowers pretty much down to asters, with a few goldenrod and goats-beard mixed in.
Roadkill limited to a couple of blood patches of a size compatible with squirrels, plus a largish mess on the road this side of the bog. I *think* I saw armor plate in there, which would mean an adult snapping turtle.
Flock of geese out at the cemetery pond, with a couple of ducks thrown in to plug up the holes.
Temperature in the 50s F, got out on the bike with a long-sleeve top over my regular bike gear. Did not die. Any ride in late September could turn out to be the last for the year.
