Wednesday foliage report
Sep. 14th, 2022 11:30 amRed maples have started to turn, whole trees out in the bog and scattered, probably stressed, limbs growing on higher ground. Floral report is asters and goldenrod, goldenrod and asters. With an admixture of chicory and goats-beard.
No roadkill. Not-roadkill, a couple-dozen geese and one great blue heron at the cemetery pond. Heron was dozing with its head tucked when I rode past on my way out, awake and imitating a dead snag when I came back. Also, monarch butterfly across my path up at the golf course. Maybe newly-emerged -- I've seen egg-laying up there, and they have a good supply of milkweed.
Weather allowed, so I got out on the bike and slipped some mileage past the wind. Did not die.
