Air temperature 34 F, wind north about 5 mph, high thin clouds. Gathered our ritual bouquet of dandelions for the Hallmark Holiday, but some of them may turn out to be duds -- flowers tight shut against the cold. We'll see which ones open and which don't.

Shadbush blooming in town, first early cress, wild strawberries dotting white by the roadside. Our home azaleas have started to bloom, and lots of purple ground-ivy for the bees.

No roadkill. The cantor mockingbirds are claiming the synagogues -- no idea if they count for a minyan.

Across town and by the airport/base, a few metal birds I won't enumerate and identify. Back over hill and dale to home. Did not die. Or dye, either.
