Air temperature 50 F, wind near calm, scattered fog under clear sky. We are headed back up into the 70s today, rather above average for mid-October in Maine.

When you have been raised and educated to believe that a certain historical figure is a hero, it takes a serious change in worldview to recast them as slime.

One adult raccoon dead by the side of the road near the old BOMARC site. Several gray squirrels and a pigeon also logged.

Roadside flowers settling back to asters and clover, with an admixture of dandelions. Aspens, poplars, and birches going yellow, but a lot of them dropping leaves almost as fast as they turn. Same is true of the maples. Oaks and beeches still green.

Rode across town, KC-135s and a C-17 at the airfield. Some stretches of new asphalt that I would have liked to see last spring. Warm for the season, but each ride may be the last. Did not die.
