Monday foliage report
Oct. 11th, 2021 03:20 pmSome ash trees completely bare, others completely green. Maples red, orange, and yellow. Oaks and beech trees still green, as well as most of the birch/poplar/aspen complex.
Asters still battling on, but the goldenrod is done. Cattails popping their fluff, milkweed pods not yet. We haven't had a frost locally, much less a hard freeze.
A dozen, plus/minus, geese at the cemetery pond as I headed out, didn't notice them on the way back. At least three wild turkeys by the roadside about six miles into my ride. No identifiable roadkill.
Warmed up into the 60s F, light wind, got out on the bike. Did not die. Ride takes me over 1100 miles for the year. Little chance that the weather will allow 1200.
