Wednesday autumnal report
Oct. 6th, 2021 03:27 pmFlock of 20-30 geese out by the cemetery pond. No idea if those are migrants or the ones that just hang around all winter. Note that if I say "geese" I mean Canada geese -- we don't get brant or snow geese around here. And I haven't checked passports to know if our Canada geese are Canadians.
More leaves turning, still mostly the maples. A few aspens or poplars are showing yellow, as are the tamaracks out in the bog. Sumacs going red. Still lots of asters.
Warmed up to the 60s F, not much wind, snatched a bike ride from the jaws of winter. Did not die.
