Air temperature 66 F, wind SW about 4 mph, mostly cloudy. Tropical storm watch in effect, with the core of Isaias projected to pass well inland of us, over Vermont and up into Canada.

Oak trees are starting to drop acorns, hazard to passing bicyclists. Sumac spikes going red, cattails brown but not fluffy yet, milkweed pods green.

Roadkill limited to one mole, small gray sausage on the asphalt, and a number of flattened frogs that had tried to move around in the rain a couple of nights back.

Not yet raining, not too hot, got out on the bike. Did not die.

Well, it looks like at least some of that song-sparrow din worked. Little brown birds everywhere in the yard, some of them doing the "feed me" wing flutter.
