Time is out of joint

Air temperature 68 F, wind south 14 mph, overcast. Chance of showers and thundershowers, into tomorrow. Got the trash ready to put out and then remembered that Saturday is the new Friday, due to Monday holiday.

Well, that's the fifth comment or post I've composed and then deleted without releasing into the wild. Obviously time to get off social media and brew another mug of coffee.

Innocents slaughtered

Got out before the real heat landed on us, mowed the white violets and ground ivy and chickweed and dandelions. Bumblebees will be bereft.

Rituals observed

Fetched a sprig of columbine flowers home from my morning walk. Yeah, they aren't ours. That house hasn't been occupied in a decade, and the plants were sprouting at the base of a retaining wall, self-seeded.
