Air temperature -8 F, near calm, clear sky and half moon for the newspaper walk. Kicked a chunk of ice in the sidewalk and it rang like metal. Carbon dioxide has not yet condensed out of the air, so we're still good.

You folks *are* aware that defeating any incumbent politician is a low-odds event, yes? It requires unity, not division.

You also have to persuade independents in order to win. Beware of dogma. In Maine, independent ("Unenrolled") voters outnumber the party ass-kissers of either Republican or Democratic ranks.
