Sacrifice needed

Darkness grows. We need to toss the king into a deep bog to make the sun come back.

Not quite winter yet

Air temperature 21 F, wind near calm, overcast. Supposed to get a bit of snow and colder, then maybe rain and 50 F at the start of next week. Do I need to get down to bare asphalt, or will that just leave us with glaze when the rains hit and flash-freeze?
