The end of summer

Air temperature 61 F, sunny, light south breeze. Heavy dew overnight. Heading into Labor Day weekend, traditional departure of the tourists and start of American football. Bike ride planned.

Friday roadkill report

One porcupine, yearling or second year by the size, one probable snapping turtle, one hairy-tailed mole. Also a couple of bloody patches of asphalt with no visible corpses.

A few more asters blooming, a few more leaves turning color. Purple loosestrife less prominent, which just means it is setting seed. Couple of fields mowed for late hay.

Got out on the bike, thick humid air, did not die.
