Tuesday floral report

Purple loosestrife starting to bloom, damned invasive alien taking over the world. Also lots of cornflower and goats-beard and still defiant buttercups. Milkweed blooming but no monarch butterflies seen yet.

No fresh roadkill. The forces of decay have reduced my Kelly Road porcupine to a pile of quills. Not-roadkill, a chipmunk skittering across the road just up the street from us and a snapping turtle in the brush by the edge of a power-line cut near the bog. Maybe 12" shell.

Got out on the bike, air temperature around 80 F, did not die.

Item in the evening news, a line-up of at least five matching semis -- gear and roadies for upcoming waterfront country/western concert. We've come a long way from "suitcase and guitar in hand" . . .
