Sunday roadkill report
Jun. 23rd, 2019 01:25 pmOne large snapping turtle dead by the roadside at about mile 16.5 on my route. Maybe 24" top shell. We'll hope she had already finished her nest and was heading back to the river.
Not-roadkill, immature bald eagle soaring along my side of the river at my water stop by the dam, and another across the river too far to judge if it was an adult or not.
Queen Anne's lace blooming, new variety of wild rose (pale pink, ground-hugging), maybe cinquefoil, multi-flower yellow hawkweed.
Wind NW over 15 mph and gusting over 30, so I didn't push mileage -- just upriver to the next bridge and down the other side. Did not die.
