Air temperature 53 F, wind SE about 5 mph, overcast. Maybe bike ride in a few hours, if I can summon the energy.

One dead woodchuck at about 4 miles into my ride. Not-roadkill, a stupid mallard drake waddling across a busy road to follow his lady fair. Traffic stopped. As he made it across, I rode past and reminded him that he had wings.

Hobble-bush starting to bloom, honeysuckle, and assorted wild mustards. What I *think* was goldthread in the woods, but we're talking bicycle botany here . . .

Not raining, temperature reached near 60 F, so I got out on the bike. Headed downriver and then inland, including a couple of hills. Did not die.

Columbine flowering on my walk route, and the bees have declared our rowan flowers open for business.
