Air temperature 2 F (no minus sign), wind WSW 8 mph, windchill -11. Clear sky, waning crescent moon between Venus and Jupiter predawn. Could be worse.
Looked out the dining room window while eating lunch, saw an empty peanut butter jar in our driveway. Went to collect it just now, as part of a shovel expedition, and no sign of it. May be miles upriver by now . . .
