Air temperature 35 F, windchill the same, near calm under mostly cloudy skies. Saw moon and Venus for the first time in several days. Black ice roads and walks.

Now that the leaf-piles are frozen down and covered with snow, our civil servants are roaming the streets with bucket loaders and dump trucks. They could have used their diesel-powered vacuum trucks and rakes, before the recent storms . . .
