Stuff falling from sky

Air temperature 24 F, windchill 24, calm, overcast. A few bits of snow in the air, almost unnoticed even by the radar. We may get a couple of inches of the stuff between now and Thanksgiving, at which point the temperature and windchill both take a dive.

Hell of it is, a lot of forestry people agree that a century of "fire suppression" *has* contributed a lot to the ferocity of wildfires in the past decade.  Ecosystems that evolved to live with regular fire have developed a massive excess of fuel . . .
