Gales of November

Air temperature 38 F, dew point 29, wind WSW about 8 mph, scattered clouds. We do not seem to have suffered personal damage from last night's storm, but there are branches down in the neighborhood.

Heliotropic

When I opened window shades this morning, about a dozen juncos sat perched in the rowan tree, all facing the sunrise with their white chests glowing.

Bad language bird

Had a hairy woodpecker on the rowan tree when we got back from grocery shopping. He (red spot) said rude things about us.

Moving on?

We've had a mixed flock of juncos and white-throats working our side yard all day. Wonder if they think they'll have a favorable migration wind tonight?
