Tiresome people

Air temperature 55 F, wind south about 5 mph, scattered clouds for the newspaper walk. Newspaper available and obtained.

Thursday vernal report

Blue flag iris blooming out in the bog, south side of the road only. Lots more yellow hawkweed and honeysuckle, more buttercups in profusion in that horse pasture.

And, speaking of pastures, riding downhill at speed between a hayfield and some pasture land, saw a white bird-back with black wings departing. Bobolink.

Spring thing, riding past the cemetery pond, saw a female mallard up on the grass. With little brown spots in the grass around her. Not able to get a count on the number of chicks.

Warming up, got out on the bike, did not die. Ride takes me over 300 miles for the year.

And, in this afternoon's entertainment, I have acquired a new lawn mower. Planned obsolescence. I mean, we only bought the old one 25 years ago.
