Gray morning

Air temperature 51 F, dew point 48, calm, overcast. Remnants of Harvey moving in. Local bike ride after we gather a few more degrees.

Sunday floral report

Mid-sized asters have opened, more purple than the small versions. Smartweed blooming here and there. Still lots of tansy and chicory and the everlastingly-be-damned purple loosestrife. Also, acorn-bombing time -- had one thwack off my helmet and then shoulder. Loud.

No fresh roadkill. Last week's raccoon and porcupine remain, festering.

Still cool out there, windy, but I pulled the ski top out and added it to my bike gear and stayed local. Did not die.
