Damned cardinal, being a southern bird, has looked at the changing length of daylight and decided that spring has come and he needs to claim territory in song.  Loudly.

Also, Wife and I heard a tentative mockingbird declaiming from a snow-clad spruce yesterday.

It'll be a while yet, birds . . .

Rain is supposed to hold off to late tomorrow, but the clouds have arrived beforehand.

Shame that the Backyard Birdcount was a couple of weekends back -- we're just back from an afternoon walk, and spotted a swarm of Bohemian Waxwings.  Wife estimates between 500 and 1000.  Let the berries beware!

The mourning doves have started their coo-ah coo coo coo, adding that obnoxious noise to the cardinals.
