Pending business

Gathering gray this morning.  Current forecast gives us 12" to 18" of snow by tomorrow afternoon, maybe with a little rain at the start to add entertainment value.  Should begin late afternoon.

Guess I'll head up to the university forest for some skiing before.

Further on counting crows

Some evenings, we'll see hundreds of the black-hearted corvids flapping along as they head for their roosting trees.  Mornings, they disperse again to forage.

I guess that the fortune you read from this is, "Go out and buy a shotgun."

Danger -- Deer Crossing

I swear, the ski trails showed more signs of ungulates than of skiers.  Didn't help any that the university is doing "Forestry Operations" in part of the woods, which sets up a deer buffet strewn all over the ground.  (That has also closed a couple of my favorite trail loops.  I skied on through, just nosy-poking, but no grooming over the skidder ruts.)

Snowing

Started in as light rain, but now white stuff.  The expected total is still up in the air.  So to speak.  Maybe 6", maybe 18" -- depends on which weather-liar you choose.
