Feathered storm

Flock of redpolls again this morning, some number in the "lots" range.  Snow under the feeders crawling with fluttering pecking bodies, aerial squabbles, continual turnover at the perches, the whole meghilla.

Every now and then, a chickadee would dart through the swarm and nab a seed from our small "satellite" feeder and zip back up into the tree to peck it open.

Sometimes you call somebody an asshole because he's an asshole, not because he belongs to a particular subset of upright ape . . .

Intermixed

In with the miscellaneous finches (Wife says that pine siskins and redpolls are also finches) we had at least six white-winged crossbills.  They're weird.
