Dead calm, smoke plumes rising straight up into sunrise.  Usual finch-wars at the feeders -- I have to refill the sunflower every day.

Skis!

Got out on the trails again, after the interlude of Damned Cold and a period of recovery from the storm.  Snow dry and cold, enough so that the glide suffered (and I need to wax my no-wax skis again) but still, It Was Good.  Air temperature may have reached a high of 20 F, an incentive to exert yourself when wearing underwear as a top . . .

Striking at the heart of Western Civilization

Was just munching on a peanut-butter cracker (home-assembled from a jar of Skippy that predates our recent panic) and was wondering why Homeland Security isn't involved in tracking down the contamination source. 

That has to be a terrorist attack, after all.  Life as we know it, American-style, couldn't exist without peanut butter.  Destroy peanut butter, destroy the Great Satan.

Iran has to be at the root of this.
