Snow

Light and fine snow, supposed to get more serious later -- 8" - 15" range projected.  Temperature 1 F (positive!), supposed to rise into the 20s.

I am letting the stove go out for another round of ash-shoveling and stove-pipe clearing.  Would prefer warmer air for that, as I perform the rites outdoors.  But you can't have everything.  While I maintain ambivalent feelings about this ancient pile of dry-rot, we have some stuff inside I'd hate to lose to a house fire . . .

Drove Wife out to the Nature Center this noon, so she could handle some email and stuff.  Roads not terrible, but not fun either.

Got roundly scolded by some chickadees because I was late-late-late filling the feeders out there.  They proceeded to swarm, a flock of twenty or thirty with admixture of nuthatches and occasional raids by blue jays that cleared away the smaller birds.  Also both male and female downy woodpeckers and a female hairy woodpecker at the suet bag.

Followed a plow truck home.  Temperature now 18 F, which means stuff on the windshield melted from the defroster but froze to the wipers.  In-between is so much fun . . .
