Red sky at morning . . .

. . .  really accents the sugar maple leaves, crimson and blaze orange and canary yellow.  Sunrise during my newspaper walk this morning, trees igniting to right and left.

Temperatures more moderate, 30s F rather than 20s, and calm.  Supposed to rain later.  Forecasters/prophets still muttering about mixing or turning to snow in the north and hill country.  Ski areas have been running their snow-guns at night . . .

Two more weeks until election day.  We may survive.

Attitude

Just spotted a bird on the maple snag a few houses north of us, place where we sometimes see a sharp-shinned or Cooper's hawk surveying the world for a little snack.  Hurried downstairs and focused binoculars through the kitchen window.

Mockingbird.

No, not a shrike, though they look quite similar.  Mockingbird, ruler of all he surveys . . .

Will this madness never cease?

(Rhetorical question.  The particular madness will cease in approximately two weeks.)

About 50% (by bulk) of today's mail was political fliers.  The rest?  A catalog.  And one of the fliers was harping on the Obama loves terrorists theme.  Not gonna go over big.
