Came home from a brief shopping "out" to find a little red car nosed into the telephone pole two houses down, with cop in possession of the scene. Significant damage to front end of car, no estimate of condition of pole but it is still upright.
This is a residential street, straight, dry pavement, 25 MPH speed limit. You'd almost have to be aiming . . .

Addendum: Car V. Pole
Sep. 26th, 2008 12:35 pmTook a morning break from my thrill-packed schedule to walk past the accident site -- after removal of car and cop. Pole only suffered minor abrasions. If I hadn't known to look, I wouldn't have noticed anything. Car, on the other hand, I'd estimate at several thousand dollars damage. These days, a single headlight assembly can cost upwards of $500 US.
