Was at a local "do" yesterday, comics and graphic novels and genre novels (waves at Kristen) and animation, studying people.  And I realized, first, that "Joe Hill" looks a lot like his father did, thirty or so years back.  And then realized that damn few people in the room could make that connection from personal experience.  Most of the crowd was younger than him . . .

Five or ten gray squirrels smashed on the pavement.  Migration?  Also, four or five bicycles with apparent flat tires or other malfunction.  I passed them by without rendering assistance, prim in the knowledge that a sag-wagon would come by.

Made a tactical error for this morning's bike run, choosing the same route as an organized ride.  The bicycle ego got punctured repeatedly as I was passed by a hundred or so hardcore Spandex-bodies in swarms.  Pin-on numbers up over 300.  Well, damn near all of them were younger than me . . .

Upriver, across, and back down the other side, admiring the early-turning leaves.  Anyway, drizzle on part of the ride, raining now.  So I showed the wisdom of my years by not splitting off from that route to do a longer ride.  And I did pass some of those twerps on the homeward leg.  No sense of pacing.
